Covered California
California’s state health insurance exchange is called CoveredCalifornia or CoveredCA. It’s where individuals, families, and employers can go and purchase insurance. Based on your income level, you may get a discount on your monthly premiums and possibly your out-of-pocket costs as well. That premium discount is called a subsidy or APTC (Advance Premium Tax Credit) and the out-of-pocket discount is called a CSR (Cost Share Reduction.)
